Lo ví anoche en Barnes & Nobles, cuesta $60 dólares. Dan ganas de jugar; aunque no se si el tablero TAN grande se convierta en un punto negativo del juego, habría que jugarlo a ver; aunque quien sabe cuánto se demore la armada del tablero.

Saw it yesterday at Barnes & Nobles, cost: $60 dollars. Wish I could play it; although having a board THAT big might become a negative aspects, I don't know, I'd have to play it. Another thing is, I bet it takes a long time to set that board up.

Bueno, entonces ví el parotido de Manchester City contra Tottenham, que estuvo MUY BUENO! City ganó 5-1.

City está jugando impresionante; se les nota que ya tienen la experiencia de la temporada pasada, y ahora ya están jugando mucho mejor como equipo. No solo están haciendo hartos goles por partido, sino que están jugando super bien!

Entonces, se acabó el partido y salí para la casa, llegué a las 7:45AM; y las 8AM empezó el de Manchester United contra Arsenal.

Al rededor de las 8:10AM me dí cuenta que me quedé dormido como 2 minutos, entonces lo puse a grabar y me fuí a dormir.


4 hroas después...

A eso de las 12:15 me desperté. Bajé, hablé con Danel un rato, y mientras bañana a Sienna me puse a ver el partido, mientras me comía un plato lleno de Lucky Charms.

Y QUE PARTIDO!!!



La verdad es que no recuerdo un partido de DIEZ GOLES.

Y como fan de United, reconozco que Arsenal no está pasando por un buen momento, y que fue un día de esos en los que todos los balones entraban al arco (cosa que no es común).

Si, United jugó muy bien, pero la verdad es que Arsenal está mal; y no ayuda que De Gea tapó un penalty cuando Arsenal pudo haber empatado; y United respondió con un segundo gol minutos después; entonces creo que ahí se comenzaron a desmotivar mucho los del Arsenal.

Cuando se acabó el primer tiempo iban 3-1.

Y el segundo tiempo Wenger no hizo cambios que dieran resultado, y United se apoderó COMPLETAMENTE del partido.

Juemadre, estoy TAN CONTENTO, que si tomara me tomaba un trago YA MISMO! jajajaaaaa.

Y obviamente hay que aclarar que apenas es el tercer partido de la temporada. Recordemos que la temporada pasada Chelsea comenzó IMPARABLE por dos meses, y todo parecía indicar que iban a ganar la Premier por que nadie les podía ganar, pero antes de Navidad algo les pasó y empezaron a empatar y perder partidos; y United qu evenía empatando partidos a la lata, de repente de los pasó y terminó ganando.

Así que si, 3 partidos jugados, 3 partidos ganados, pero todavía faltan 34 mas por jugar, y CUALQUIER COSA puede pasar.

Trabajando de 1Am a 5:45AM

Me tocó venir a trabajar a la oficina a terminar unos reels, trabajé de 9PM a 0:30AM. Cuando terminé me puse a trabajar en los créditos finales de la película.

Son las 5:45AM y ya los terminé; solo falta la música y quedan listos!

Y terminé a buena hora por que a las 5:45AM comenzó el partido de Tottenham y ManCity, y obviamente lo voy a ver.

Será que aguanto despierto? (Y lo mejor de todo es que después dan el de ManUnited con Arsenal!)

WORKING FROM 1AM TO 5:45AM
So I had to come to the office tonight to work on my "daily job" from 9PM to midnight (aprox) (it's now 5:45AM of Sunday).

I After I finished, I bean work on the end credits, and I worked from 0:30AM to 5:45AM. I finished all the end credit slates. Noe I have to fix the music, and I'm done.

I finished at 5:45AM because the game between Tottenham with ManCity began, and I plan on watching it!.

Will I manage to stay awake? (and the best thign is that following this match is ManUnited with Arsenal).

Since we liked so much the previous hike we did a few months back, we decided to do it again, this time at the Malibu State Park.

Como el resto de videos, este fue grabado con el iPod Touch, pero por problemas tecnicos no lo pude editar usando iMovie (en el mismo iPod); asi que lo edité en el laptop con Final Cut Pro.

As my other videos, this one was also recorded with the iPod Touch, but because of some technical issues, I couldn't edit it using iMovie (in the same iPod); so I edited in my laptop using Final Cut Pro.

Crepes y Waffles es uno de los restaurantes MAS RICOS de Colombia. El crepe favorito de Woody es el de Palmitos, y Waffle el de una bola de Chocolata, con otra de Vainilla, con salsa de CHocolate.

Crepes and Waffles is one of the most delicious restaurants in Colombia. Woody's favorite crepe is the crab meat sticks in curry, followed by a waffle with a chocolate and vanilla ice cream, covered with chocolate sauce.

This one I liked because of the "I don't plan"; take life as it comes, improvise; like Indiana Jones said "I make it up as I go along". That should be our philosophy of Life.

and fallen men like us, we need the sun."

This one I liked because it's a very original way of saying, you're beautiful, your smile makes my day, I could get lost in your smile and live happy for the rest of my life, etc. I wish I could come up with lines like this one.

Ayuda Help

Cómo hago para ayudar a alguien que no se quiere dejar ayudar?

Conozco a una persona que está pasando por uno de esos momentos hartos de la vida; le he hecho saber que "aquí estoy si me necesita".

Pero ella no quiere ayuda de nadie; aunque nos cuente que está en problemas, que necesita ayuda, al final del día no se deja ayudar.

Es obvio que este es un caso en los que le deberíamos hacer una de esas "intervenciones gringas"; pero es difícil por que, cómo le ayuda uno a alguien que no quiere ayuda? (asi diga que si la necesita?)

Así es como yo lo veo, ella esta manejando un carro a una velocidad altísima, sabemos que mas adelante hay un barranco, sabemos que si no para y da la vuelta, se va a estrellar contra un abismo sin fin. He tratado de decirle -con mucha sutileza- que de la vuelta, que para que sigue por ese camino, pero mis palabras le entran por un oido, y le salen por el otro.

Es como que a ella le encanta ser "probrecita de mi".

Lo tiene todo para darle vuelta a su vida y tomar el mundo en sus manos, pero ella esta practicando el "voy-a-autodestruirme" como una religión.

Así que aquí estoy, observando todo esto, y me pregunto, será que insisto y la trato de ayudar? O mejor me hago a un lado y dejo que se estrelle contra el mundo?

Vuelvo a preguntar, cómo hago para ayudar a alguien que no se quiere dejar ayudar?

PS: como me gustaría volver a mi antiguo yo, al que no le importaba un pepino el bienestar de las personas a mi alrededor, por que 'ese' no tendría este dilema.

How does one help someone who doesn't want our help?

So, I know a person that is going through one of those weird/bad moments in life; I've let this person know that I want to help, that "I'm here for her".

But she isn't accepting any help, although she does let everybody know that she's in trouble and needs help, at the end of the day she doesn't accept any help.

It's obvious that this is one of those cases where an intervention would be mandatory. But it's hard because how do you help someone who doesn't want to be helped? (Even if she does say she needs help?)

It's like this, she is driving a car at full speed, and we know up ahead the road ends in an amazing cliff, we know she is going to crash against an endless abyss, I've tried to tell her that she needs to slow down, that she has to stop, that she has to turn around; but she has no ears for my words.

It's like she enjoys being "poor little me".

She has everything to turn her life around and take the world by surprise, but it's like she's practicing "self-sabotage" as a religion.

So I'm here, looking at this, do I continue trying to help? Or do I just stand and wait for her to crash?

Again, how do you help someone who doesn't want to be helped?

PS: I wish I could go back to my old self when I didn't care about anyone's life; I wouldn't be having this dilemma.

Reflections 001

Siempre he notado que nuestros reflejos viven a diario en nuestras vidas; desde el espejo en el baño, pasando por las ventanas-de-vidrio-reflectivas de los edificios modernos, hasta el espejo de cuerpo entero en una tienda de ropa.

Así que un día decidí tomar fotos del reflejo. Tengo 17 en este momento, que voy a emepzar a publicar aquí.

Esta es la primera; que fue tomada por Newen, uno de mis 2 hermanos; estabamos en una tienda en Cartagena, Colombia, y vimos esta bola metálica divina que reflejaba todo lo que había alrededor.

Todas estas fotos van a estar acompañadas del siguiente tag "reflection" para poder verlas en un mismo lugar.



I've always noticed that our reflection lives a lot in our everyday life, from the normal mirror in a bathroom, to those glass-reflective-windows in modern buildings; to a full body mirror in any department store.

So one day I began taking photos of the reflection; I now have over 17 and today I will begin posting them.

Here's the first one; which was taken by Newen, one of my 2 brothers. We we're in a store in Cartagena, Colombia, and we saw this beautiful metallic ball that reflected everything around it. Very very cool!

I will create a new tag called "reflection", so I can keep them all together in one same place.

Red Rock Canyon

Woody y Leeloo visitaron el Red Rock Canyon, que está a unos minutos al oeste de Las Vegas. Se llama Red Rock Canyon por que las rocas son "rojas".

It took Woody a long time to climb the cactus, but he eventually made it all the way up.

Estas fotos fueron tomadas con el iPod Touch (4ta generación). NO TIENEN EFECTOS. Estaba en un corredor del House of Blues de Hollywood, la iluminación era oscura, pero nunca tan azul como se ve en las fotos. Me gustan por que pareciera que se le aplicaron efectos a las fotos, sinembargo no tienen nada.

Este es uno de esos momentos en los que la baja calidad de una cámara/lente funciona a nuestro favor.

Blue Photos

Photos taken with an iPod Touch (4th). Photos have NO EFFECTS. I was standing in a corridor at the House of Blues in Hollywood, the lighting was dark, and not as blue as it looks in the pictures. I liked them because they seem like a lot of effects were done to them, yet nothing was done. This is one of those times when the imperfection and bad quality of a lens/camera actually play in our advantage.

Por allá en el año 2005 cuando comenzé este blog, encontré los blogs de otros Colombianos, y uno de ellos fue el de Kafre. 6 años después nos venimos a conocer en persona.

Inception

Recibí el guión de Inception hoy en el correo. Si de repente dejo de tuitear, escribir en este blog, o lo que sea que debería estar haciendo, ya saben por qué es.

Esta película me pareció impresionante. Me encantó la historia, los efectos, la cámara lenta, la música y el final. Y haberla visto en cine hizo que la expericencia fuera aún mejor.

Otra cosa que me parecio increíble, es que el Sr Nolan (el guionista y director) haya hecho otra "obra maestra" después de haber hecho The Dark Knight.

De dónde saca sus ideas? Cómo hace para crear esas historias y entretenerlo a uno de esa manera?

A raíz de estas dos películas, he agregado un nuevo director a la lista de aquellos que admiro inmensamente: Steven Spielberg, Robert Rodriguez, Christopher Nolan, y Michael Bay (si, el mismo).

Me va a encantar leer le guión!

PS: Si Picar fuera un director, estaría en la lista.

Got this today in the mail today. If I stop twitting, writing on this blog, or what ever I'm supposed to be doing, now you know why.

This film got me by the throat and entertained me every single second. The story, the effects, the slow motion shots, the music and the end. I enjoyed watching in the theater.

Another thing which I thought was remarcable, is that Mr. Nolan (writer, director and producer) made another amazing movie after having done the second highest grossing film of all time: The Dark Knight.

Where does he get his ideas from? How does he manage to create such amazing stories and entertain us in such a manipulative way?


Because of this 2 film, I have added Mr Nolan no my list of favourite directors: Steven Spielberg, Robert Rodriguez, Christopher Nolan, y Michael Bay (yes, the same one).

I'm going to love reading the script.

PS: If Pixar were a director, they would be right there.

+ Cómo extraño partidos de la Premier League, ya este Domingo es el último. :(
+ Esta noche voy a juagr Lego Pirates of the Caribbean!!!
+ Aunque sigue haciendo frio de noche, parece que ya de día decidió salir el "calor".

Una Extraña Razón

Por una extraña razón, esta mañana me desperté y por primera vez salí de la cama en ese instante; por lo general yo siempre apago el despertador y sigo durmiendo.

Esta mañana fue diferente. No se por qué le hice caso al despertador.

Así que me bañe, desayune, y hasta tuve tiempo de revizar qué e-mails me habían llegado (yo nunca revizo e-mails sino hasta que llego al trabajo).

Y aún así, todavía tenía 45 minutos de espacio libre. No teniendo nada mas que hacer decidí irme para la oficina, que importa que llegue "45 minutos temprano".

Agarré mi maleta, llaves, celular, ipod, y me fuí.

Estaba en el carro, conectando los audifonos para poder escuchar Back 2 Work (un podcast), cuando veo que el vecino está parado en la mitad de la calle buscando su carro, como cuando uno no se acuerda 'dónde lo parqueo la noche anterior'. Yo pense fue que tal vez le habían robado el carro.

Nunca antes he visto al vecino por la mañana, seguramente por que el sale a trabajar 45 minutos antes que yo!

Decidí bajar el vidrio y hablarle.

Yo: "Buenos dias."
Vecino: "Hola..."
Yo: "Todo bien?"
Vecino: "No, debería haber un taxi aquí esperándome." (Saca su celular y comienza a marcar). "Y preciso hoy que voy tarde!"
Yo: "Pero el taxi le avizo que ya había llegado?"
Vecino: "Si, el conductor me llamó; le dije que me esperara 5 minutos mientras salía."

Hmm, que raro, el día que por alguna extraña razón decido despertarme con el despertador y salir 45 minutos mas temprano de lo que acostumbro, me encuentro con el vecino (con quien nunca me encuentro), y además su taxi lo ha dejado abandonado.

En este momento pense: será que lo llevo? Tengo 45 minutos...

Yo: "Si querés te llevo"
Vecino: "En serio?"

Así comenzó mi día.

Y aunque su trabajo quedaba en dirección contraria al mío, llegué 20 minutos temprano a mi oficina.

Some Weird Reason

For some weird reason, I woke up this morning and for the first time (in months) I got out of bed; usually I always turn off the alarm clock and continue sleeping.

This morning was different, I don't know why I followed the Alarm Clock's orders.

So I had a shower, had breakfast, and I even checked my E-mail (usually I never check it until I get to work).

And I still had 45 minutes of spare time. Since I had nothing else to do, I decided I should go to work, I'm sure there won't be a problem if I arrive 45 minutes early.

Grabbed my bag, car keys, mobile, ipod, and I left.

I was in my car, connecting the earphone to the iPod so I could listen to Back 2 Work (today's podcast), when I see that one of the neighbors stands in the middle of the street, looking for something, he reminded me when I look lost not remembering where I parked the car the night before.

I've never seen him when I leave to work, I guess it's because he leaves 45 minutes earlier than me.

I decided to talk to him.

Me: "Good morning"

Neighbor: "Hi..."

Me: "Everything alright?"

Neighbor: "No, there should be a taxi here waiting for me." (He grabs his mobile and dials). "And I'm obviously late today!"

Me: "You sure the taxi was here?"

Neighbor: "Yes, the driver called me, I told him to wait for me 5 minutes while I came out of the house."

Okay, so here I am thinking: for some weird reason

today I decided to wake up with the alarm clock, get ready and leave 45 minutes earlier than what I usually do; and, I meet with the neighbor who needs a ride because his taxi abandoned him.

"Should I take him? I do have 45 minutes of spare time..."

Me: "I'll give you a ride"

Neighbor: "Really?"

And that's how my day began.

Even though his work was in the opposite direction than mine, I still managed to arrive 20 minutes early.

Película de Tintin

Este es solo un teaser, y acepto que me emocioné, me dejó con ganas de ver a todos los personajes por que no mostraron a ninguno (solo a Tintín al final), quiero ver mas ya!

Pero me preocupa que no mostraron a ningún personaje "hablando". Ojalá para cuando terminen la película el movimiento de los labios este perfecto con lo que dicen; por que si no, va a ser la embarrada.

Aún así, deseo y espero que esta película sea todo un exito!

Leí todos los libros de Tintín, soñé cuando pequeño en ser aventurero como el, y que ahora exista una película dirigida por Steven Speilberg sobre Tintín me parece increíble!

A Tintin Movie!

This is just a teaser, but it did leave me wanting more! I want to see all the characters! They didn't show any of them up close (only Tintin at the end), I want to see them all now!

Something does worry me though, they didn't show any character "speaking". Let's hope that by the time the movie comes out, the movement of the lips is perfectly synced with what they're saying;

if not, it's going to be terrible.

But, I sure wish/hope that this movie is a total succes!

I've read all the books, I dreamed of being him, of having all those adventures; and now that there's a film directed by Steven Spielberg, I think it amazing!

Ayuno de internet

Me dió por tener 3 días de ayuno de internet, Viérnes, Sábado y Domingo.

No revizé Twitter. No revizé Facebook. No leí periódicos. No tengo ni idea qué esta pasando en el mundo. No revizé E-mails. Inclusive me limité a solo hablar por teléfono.

Lo primero que hice esta mañana fue mirar a ver cómo quedó el partido de Manchester United del Sábado, y aunque empató 1-1, ya ganó la Premier League. YES!!!! QUE VIVA MANCHESTER UNITED!!!!!

Encontré 35 nuevos mensajes en mi cuente de E-mail.

Sigo sin saber qué esta pasando en el mundo, pero parece que 'nada' por que aquí sigue, igualico.

+ Tengo que admitir que nunca pensé que ManUnited ganara la Premier League esta temporada. Pensé que se iban a demorar otras dos en realmente jugar como un equipo solido. Pero bueno, se ganó, asi que DELPU!

Internet Fasting

I decided to have 3 days of no internet this last 3 days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I didn't check Twitter. I didn't check Facebook. I didn't read any news. I have no idea what's going on in the world. I limited myself to only speak on the phone.

First thing I did this morning was check how the Manchester United ended, 1-1, which means that they are the champions of the Premier League. GO MANCHESTER UNITED!!!

I have 35 new e-mail messages.

I still haven't read the news, but it seems nothing has happened as it's still here.

+ I have to admit that I never thought that ManUnited was going to win the league this year; I thought it was going to take them 2 more seasons to really know how to play really well; but hey, they won! AWESOME!

Dos Trabajos

Anoche llegué de mi primer trabajo a las 9 de la noche. Comí. Ví televisión un rato, y como a las 11:30PM empezó el turno nocturno de edición, que duró hasta las 2:15am.

Esta mañana casi no me despierto; reconozco que apagué la alarma y dormí otros 20 minutos...

Tener dos trabajos (uno "de día" y otro "de noche") es cosa seria. El cuerpo eventualmente va a pedir tregua. Además que a eso de las 3PM me da sueño... me gustaría poder dormir siesta.

Ahora mismo siento como si estuviera en un velero viajando por el oceano. Además del agua, la soledad me rodea 24 horas del día.

El problema, es que no hay viento, toca remar. Lo que significa que voy... len... ta... men... te...

El horizonte se siente tan grande y al mismo tiempo tan lejos, que a veces pienso en dejar de remar.

Pero no me puedo dar ese lujo, toca seguir remando, no puedo rendirme después de tanto esfuerzo.

Confio que eventualmente, en algún momento, veré tierra, algún pico de una montaña, o tal vez un ave llegue y utilize el velero para descansar, siendo así una señal de que hay tierra cerca?

Veo al cielo, no hay nubes, no hay pájaros. Solo un sol que ilumina un oceano infinito.

Dónde puse el remo?

Hoy logré salir de trabajar a las 7PM. Y pasó algo rarísimo: rompí record de regreso a la casa, por lo general siempre me demoro 1 hora y 15 minutos, esta noche me demoré 40 minutos exactos! A las 7:03PM estaba prendiendo el carro, y a las 7:43 estaba parqueando en mi destino final. No lo podía creer.

Y bueno, comí, ví el noticiero de fútbol, Holanda-Hungría quedó 5-3, impresionante el partido.

A eso de las 9:30PM estaba sentado al frente del computador comenzando el turno nocturno de esta noche.

Son las 12:13 de la media noche, y ya terminé -por ahora-. Al menos voy a poder dormir un apr de horas mas esta noche.

Los Angeles Downtown Art Walk March 2011

The second Thursday of every month, something called "Downtown Art Walk" takes place. Basically, a lot of locales are opened to the public, most of them are art galleries, but you can also find a few bands playing that night.

It's pretty cool because LA is a "car city", if you want to go "anywhere" you need a car. So to be able to walk on the streets, mix with other human beings, breath the air, feel the cold breeze, (things that a new yorker is used to) is a pretty cool feeling. Add to that that your looking at some nice art, and it ends up being a pretty interesting night.

I'm not into art, I don't usually visit art galleries, but this event is pretty cool, I've already attended 2 artwalks this year, and I plan on attending the next one in April.
 It's one of those things that a lot of "angelenos" don't even know about, or if they do, it's pretty normal they have never attended one.

One last thing, of the more than 25 locales that participate, I only attended less than 10. Next time, I'll try to make it to the ones I missed.

+ I wonder if I'll be able to ride the bike tomorrow, depends on the weather.

You Are Healthy

Caminando a mi carro ví que le pusieron algo en el vidrio delantero. Cuando leí lo que decía "You Are Healthy" no sabía qué pensar. Miré a mi alrededor a ver... a ver qué? No se, pero miré.

Lo único que se me ocurre es que alguien -un artista lo mas probable- haga letreros como este y se los ponga a los carros, dándole mensajes positivos a los dueños de estos.

Finalmente, quité el letrero y... se lo puse a otro carro.
